Ferozepur, July 13: The state police on Wednesday claimed to have busted an inter-state militant module following the interrogation of two persons who were arrested after a shootout at Kohala village in Ferozepur and Bhanolanga in Kapurthala on Tuesday.
The police also claimed to have cracked two murder cases of Dera follower Gurdev Singh (31) of Burj Jawahar Singh Wala village in Faridkot on June 13, 2016, and Baba Lakha Singh, alias Lakhwinder Singh, a controversial religious preacher in Hanumangarh district, on November 23, 2016

During the operation launched yesterday, the police nabbed two members of the module — Gurpreet Singh, alias Gopi, and Avtar, alias Pamma, both residents Kohala village in Ferozepur. Another suspect in the killings — Ashok Kumar Vohra, alias Amna Seth — managed to escape.
Another key member of the module, Jaswant Singh Kala of Sonewala village in Muktsar, who was the brainchild behind the killings, is untraceable so far. The police said Gurdev Singh, a shopkeeper, was killed as part of a larger plan to create differences between religious groups and disturb peace in the state. Various other hi-profile targets were on the radar of this module.
