Nabha Power tops the India power plants performance list once again

Date:

Rajpura (Patiala), 18 July 2022: Nabha Power Limited (NPL), which is owned and operated by Larsen & Toubro (L&T), has again been ranked among the top thermal power plants in the country based on the Plant Load Factor (PLF) during the peak summer season.

As per the data released by Central Electricity Authority (CEA), Rajpura Thermal Power Plant operated at a high PLF of 95.17% during the first quarter of FY 23 as against a national average of 70%. The PLF achieved is the highest for any non-pit head-based coal plant having a capacity of 1000 MW or above.

Nabha Power has been recognised nationally and internationally as one of the best thermal plants, bagging the best IPP award conferred by IPPAI for three consecutive years 2017, 2018, 2019 and again in 2022.

The Rajpura Thermal Power Plant had operated at a high PLF of 90.17% against the national average of 58.64% during the first five months of the previous year and was recognised as one of the best thermal plants in the country.

Commenting on the Operational Performance, Mr D K Sen, Whole Time Director, L&T (Development Projects) said, “During last year, Nabha Power, which has 25% of the total installed capacity within the state of Punjab had contributed almost 40% of the total power that was generated within the state. This year, during the first quarter, Nabha Power recorded the highest PLF among non-pithead plants in India and on an overall basis, ranked 2nd amongst all the TPPs. I attribute this achievement to our commitment to strive for excellence in our operations and our resolve to serve the state of Punjab in its industrial and economic progress by supplying the lowest cost power amongst all thermal plants within the state.”

The 700 MW unit number 2 of the plant has been in continuous operations for 114 days and Unit 1 has been generating power continuously for 80 days, thus supplying uninterrupted and reliable power to the State of Punjab. The Plant also maintained a healthy average coal stock of 21 days during the quarter which is also the highest average for any non-pit head plant in India.

Nabha Power demonstrated its commitment to meet the power demand of the state during the ongoing paddy season by ensuring 100% availability while generating power at the highest PLF amongst all thermal power plants within the state and has ensured average availability of 96% during the crucial paddy season for last five years.
