Commenting on the summoning of former Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the Kotkapura firing case, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA and Kisan Wing state president Kultar Singh Sandhwan and senior leader Manwinder Singh Giaspura said that the Narco test of Parkash Singh Badal must be conducted for proper investigation in the case. The AAP leaders alleged that the Captain Amarinder Singh-led Congress government was playing tricks to save the Badal family through a new special investigation team and was not giving any justice to the people of Punjab. In a statement issued from the party headquarters here on Tuesday, Kultar Singh Sandhwan and Manwinder Singh Giaspura said that the newly constituted SIT had again summoned Parkash Singh Badal, who was also summoned by the previous investigation team. They said that it was nothing but the Captain government’s tactics of dramatizing the whole process of investigation to save the culprits.
The leaders said that instead of doing all this, Parkash Singh Badal should undergo a Narco test so that the investigation process was completely over forever. Kultar Singh Sandhwan said that politics had been going on for the last five years regarding the desecration of Sri Guru Granth Sahib and the firing case. “The Captain Amarinder Singh-led Congress government had come to power by taking oath of Sri Gutka Sahib that after formation of the government, the accused would be put behind bars; but in four and half years, Captain had not taken action and put a single accused and conspirator in jail,” he said. Sandhwan said that the only thing that had been done was to form committees of investigation. Accusing Captain Amarinder Singh and the Badals to be in collusion, Manwinder Singh Giaspura said that Captain’s affinity with the Badals was still intact and the general public knows that the Akali-Congress alliance was obstructing the course of justice.
Giaspura said that former Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal used to say that he could also see ants moving in Punjab; but only for the sake of votes, the Badals saved the accused involved in the sacrilege case and let firing done on the Sikhs seeking justice for the desecration of the Guru. The AAP leaders said that the then Chief Minister and Home Minister were directly responsible for the police firing on the Sangat but the Badals and Captain were befooling the Sikh Sangat by calling the Punjab police as unidentified. “It had happened in Punjab, which is reprehensible and the stigma needs to be removed,” they added. The leaders said that on formation of the AAP government, the culprits and conspirators of desecration and those who saved the accused will be put behind bars.
