Navjot Sidhu should resign on moral grounds: Tarun Chugh

Date:

Chandigarh, April 13 Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday asked Punjab Cabinet Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu to resign on moral grounds after state government’s submission in a road rage case.

Tarun Chugh, the national secretary of the party, said the state government’s statement in the Apex Court that Sidhu had lied in a road rage case against him was enough to demand Sidhu’s resignation.

Chugh said the state government has not only contradicted Sidhu’s stand but also demanded that the court should uphold his sentence announced by the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

“When a government admits in the Supreme Court that its minister was involved in a road rage case in which one person was killed and the minister had lied, then the minister should not waste a minute and tender his resignation,” the BJP leader said.

He said it was for the first time that a government has told the highest court of the country that its minister is lying.  Chugh said that Sidhu should at least come out with his reaction on the stand his government has taken on the issue.

Chugh also asked Punjab Governor VP Singh Badnore and Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh to ask Sidhu to tender his resignation or dismiss him from the cabinet.
