Amritsar, April 25: CRPF Inspector Raghbir Singh, who was killed in the Naxal attack in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh on Monday, was cremated with the state honours at his native Sathiala village near Baba Bakala on Tuesday.
A CRPF contingent presented the guard of honour to the martyr.The soldier’s son Amritbir Singh (21) lit the pyre. Baljit Kaur said her husband had come home on leave around four months ago and was expected to join the family again next month.
Kamaldeep Singh Sangha, Deputy Commissioner; Santhokh Singh Bhalaipur, MLA from Baba Bakala; DL Gola, DIG, CRPF Jalandhar; Laxmi Kanta Chawla, former Cabinet minister; J Elanchezihian, Senior Superintendent of Police (rural); SDM Tejveer Singh Saini; and Deputy Superintendent of Police Lakhwinder Singh Mall placed wreaths on the martyr’s body.
A large number of residents of the area paid floral tributes. DL Gola, DIG, CRPF Jalandhar, said, “We will try to provide dues and benefits to Inspector Raghbir Singh’s family at the earliest.”
