NITI Aayog report exposes Cong & Badal’s tall claims regarding the health services in Punjab: Cheema

Date:

Chandigarh, October 2

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab senior leader and Leader Opposition, Harpal Singh Cheema said that NITI Aayog’s latest report has not only exposed the tall claims made by Congress and Badals regarding arrangements being made for improving Punjab’s dilapidated health services but has also highlighted that how the best health model of the Kejriwal government in Delhi has become an example for the entire country.

In a statement issued from the party headquarters here on Saturday, Harpal Singh Cheema said that in the latest NITI Aayog report, the Kejriwal government in Delhi has ranked at the first position in terms of offering the best health facilities and treatment in government hospitals across the country.

As per the report findings, 59 beds are made available in hospitals for a population of one lakh in Delhi and a doctor performs the maximum number of 547 operations in a year, while unfortunately only 18 beds are available for a population of one lakh and a government doctor performs only 229 operations in a year in Punjab, informed Harpal Singh Cheema.

Harpal Singh Cheema said that NITI Aayog has not only exposed the shabby health services being offered to the people of the state including government hospitals, dispensaries in Punjab but has also exposed the Congress, Akali-BJP, who has been ruling Punjab for decades and have ruined government health system.

Cheema said that today the government hospitals and dispensaries in Punjab are in such a bad state of affairs that they do not have to offer any health services and because of which people are forced to visit private hospitals to get the treatment by paying whopping prices, while the poor and needy who can’t afford such expensive treatments are either left to live a miserable life or forced to die due to lack of proper treatment.

This is the reason that the importance of the guarantee given by AAP’s national convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal regarding bringing reforms in government health services in Punjab has now increased even more, after the NITI Ayog’s report, asserted Cheema.

Harpal Singh Cheema said that as per the promise made by the national convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, if Aam Aadmi Party government comes to power in 2022 in Punjab then all the government Hospitals, dispensaries will be upgraded on similar lines of Delhi and all types of diseases will be treated free of cost.

He further said that according to the growing population, new hospitals and dispensaries would be constructed. Like Mohalla clinics in Delhi, 16,000 village and ward clinics will be opened in villages and cities of Punjab too, where treatment, tests and medicines will be given free of cost.

Similarly, for every person of Punjab, the ‘AAP’ government will issue a digital health card having complete details regarding the health of the cardholder and the medical investigation report. Not only this, the government will bear the entire cost of treatment of the person injured in the road accident in the nearest government hospital or private hospital, said Cheema.

Harpal Singh Cheema said that the guarantee given by Kejriwal regarding the health of the people is not like the false promises made by Congress and Sukhbir Singh Badal or Modi-Amit Shah’s jumlas, but a step that the Delhi government has taken and has already successfully implemented for the people of Delhi.
