No heed for people losing their lives due to Covid, Congress more concerned about chair: Cheema

Date:

Chandigarh, May 17

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) senior leader and Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Punjab Assembly, Harpal Singh Cheema said that the Congress leaders of the state were not worried about the loss of life of the people due to Covid-19 pandemic but Captain Amarinder Singh and other Congressmen were more concerned about the chair. He appealed to Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh to save the lives of the people of Punjab before saving the seat of power. In a statement issued from the party headquarters here on Monday, Harpal Singh Cheema said that on the one hand the impact of Covid in Punjab was increasing day by day and thousands of people were dying due to the incompetence of the Punjab government.

“On the other hand, the cockfight of the Congress leaders is intensifying day by day,” said Cheema. He said that every day the Chief Minister, Ministers and MLAs of the ruling Congress government were challenging each other; while the people of Punjab were suffering from the Covid pandemic. “The Captain government is not paying any attention to save the lives of the people,” he added. The LoP further said that Captain Amarinder Singh’s attitude was dictatorial and like his boss PM Narendra Modi; he had resorted to intimidation and threatening of political opponents. “That is why legal action is being taken against the Congress ministers and MLAs,” he added.

Taking a dig at Captain Amarinder Singh, the AAP leader questioned the Chief Minister that if there was already a case against any Minister or MLA then why he did not take any legal action against them. “Why Captain Amarinder Singh been defending that Minister or MLA till now?” added Cheema. He said that people of Punjab were well aware of the facilities and justice provided to the people by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh and the ministers during the last four and half years. Cheema said that all the Congressmen were fighting only to befool the people and keep their seats safe.
