Now, Covid vaccination to be administered at all health centres: Balbir Sidhu

Chandigarh, March 28: To further speed up the vaccination drive, the Health & Family Welfare Minister Mr. Balbir Singh Sidhu on Saturday said that now, COVID-19 vaccination will be administered at all Health & Wellness Centres, Sub Centres, Homeopathy & Ayurvedic Dispensaries.

COVID-19 Vaccination will also be made available for all persons above age of 45 years without any condition at all government health centres from April 1.

Disclosing this, Mr. Sidhu said that nearly 7 lakh population of Punjab have been vaccinated so far and to provide vaccination services at the door step of people, such facilities will be provided at all government health centers and dispensaries/hospitals. He said that the activities under the campaign are undertaken in full compliance of COVID-19 guidelines like maintenance of Social Distancing, use of face masks, maintenance of proper sanitation and hygiene etc.

All Civil Surgeons have been instructed to implement the guidelines as soon as possible so that the vaccination process can be expedited in such centres and maximum eligible persons to be covered under drive, he added.

As per Experts New COVID virus is more infectious and intense so it is moral responsibility of all to get them vaccinated he said adding that now anyone could easily get the vaccination facility near to their residence as all government health centres were instructed to administer vaccination.

Divulging about the vaccine he said that Government of India has launched two COVID-19 vaccines in the country i.e. Covishield and Covaxin and both the vaccines are safe and approximately 40 million people have been vaccinated in India while as on dated March 27 in Punjab, total 2,96,593 Healthcare and Frontline Workers vaccinated with 1st dose and 98,496 with second dose. He said that a total of 3,92,415 persons were vaccinated who were above 60 years age and 45 years above with co-morbidities.

He further said that vaccination is being carried out in government health facilities on all 7 days of the week and it is completely free of cost at these institutions. For private hospitals government has fixed a maximum fee of Rs.250 for each dose of vaccine. Any eligible citizen can register for vaccination on ‘selfregistration.cowin.gov.in‘ or in Aarogya Setu app.

He also appealed to the people say yes to vaccination for the safety of Punjab as vaccination is the most important weapon to fight with this deadly virus. People should not believe on rumours and get their vaccination done as per the schedule.
