Deputy Chief Minister Punjab Mr. Om Prakash Soni today flagged off 30 new ERS-108-ambulances for Zigitza Healthcare Limited in presence of MLAs; Nathu Ram, Surjit Singh Dhiman, Navtej Cheema, Sukhpal Bhullar, Lakhbir Lakha and Principal Secretary Health & family Welfare Alok Shekhar, Managing Director PHSC Amit Kumar IAS.
The deputy chief minister said that apart from boosting the basic infrastructure, the Punjab government has added another service through which patients or their relatives can easily track movement of these ambulances through online link like other online service providers.
He said that the caller will receive an SMS including online link on his mobile phone which would enable them to track the ambulance.
Mr. OP Soni said that the average response time of the government ambulances has also been decreased from 30 to 20 minutes for rural area and from 20 minutes to 15 in urban area. Addition of these facilities will help to strengthen the faith of general public and provide better health care facilities for the people of Punjab. Deputy CM announced that the dashboard of ERS-108-ambulances would be available for public on the Health Department’s website.
Mr. Soni said with the induction of 30 new vehicles, the number of ambulances now has been increased from 270 to 300 which further has been planned to increase to 400 in the due course of time. He said that the new ERS-108-Ambulance fleet consist of 28 Basic Life Support (BSL) and 2 Negative Pressure Ambulances which would help prevent cross infection and ensuring safer transportation of Covid-19 patients. The minister said that these first of its kind ambulances will be located at Amritsar & Ludhiana wherein the Basic Life support ambulances will be available across all the districts, villages & towns of Punjab.
To highlight the new features for the benefit of general public, an informatory video was also released by the Deputy CM on this occasion under the IEC activities of ERS-108-ambulances.
