Chandigarh, March 3
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab Chief Ministerial candidate and MP Bhagwant Mann alleged, “The BJP government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Centre is constantly depriving Punjab of its rights. Following the abolition of Punjab’s representation in the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB), the Modi government has now decided to remove Punjab Police from the security of dams and expel Punjab’s doctors from government services in Chandigarh as they (BJP) continue to substantiate their anti-Punjab stand.” Mann appealed to the Modi government not to further harass the afflicted Punjabis by robbing them of their rights and to uphold the rights of Punjab in Chandigarh and in the management of dams.
In a statement issued from the party headquarters here on Thursday, Bhagwant Mann said that in Punjab Assembly elections, Narendra Modi led centre government has consistently implemented anti-Punjab decisions. After Congress, now BJP government is implementing the decision to exclude Punjab from the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) formed on the soil of Punjab. “Modi government has also removed the Punjab Police Force involved in the protection of dams after ousting Punjab’s from the Bhakra Beas Management Board. The Board has decided to deploy Central Industrial Security Force for the protection of three dams while Rs. 90 crores spent on security of dams would be recovered from the stakeholders including Punjab,” said Mann. On the one hand employment has been taken away from the youth of Punjab, on the other hand the cost of security has been imposed on Punjab, he added.
Bhagwant Mann said that Modi governments atrocities knows no bounds as they have also 112 doctors of Punjab from Chandigarh, a city build on the land of Punjab and its capital. He said that under the Punjab Reorganization Act, 60 per cent share of Punjab was reserved, in all kinds of services and management in Chandigarh, employees of Punjab are taken on the deputation in Chandigarh police, schools, hospitals and other services. But the Modi government has implemented the decision to abolish deputation of Punjab from Chandigarh, as a result of which 112 doctors from Punjab have been removed from the health department here and notice has been issued to recruit doctors from Union Territories and other states. Mann said that first Congress was violating Punjab’s rights and now BJP is hell bend on doing the same too and this attitude of union governments is a blow to our country’s federal system.
Bhagwant Mann blamed former Chief Ministers Parkash Singh Badal and Capt. Amarinder Singh for the atrocities committed against Punjab who had never raised their voice for Punjab and its rights. He challenged Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa and Capt. Amarinder Singh, the parties involved in the electoral alliance with the BJP, to explain their position on the decision of Modi government and this onslaught on the rights of Punjab. Mann said that the Aam Aadmi Party government would fight against such decisions of central government to defend the rights of Punjab.
