Former Punjab Minister and Chairman of Punjab Agro Industries Corporation Mr. Joginder Singh Mann today said that the farmers of the state could change their fortunes through crop diversification and Food Processing.
Chairing the 246th meeting of Board of Directors of the Corporation here today, the Chairman, accompanied by Managing Director of the Corporation Mr. Manjit Singh Brar, said that there was tremendous potential in the food processing sector and the farmers of the state could be immensely benefitted if they adopt crop diversification and food processing sector. He said that with the increasing demand of direct from farm goods by the consumers the farmers could reap huge profits. Mr Mann envisioned that the Corporation would act as a catalyst for transforming the destiny of the farmers by giving impetus to diversification and agro-based industry.
The Chairman of Punjab Agro Industries Corporation said that under the visionary, dynamic and decisive leadership of the Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, the state government was committed for bailing out the farmers from the current agrarian crisis. He said that the corporation, which was the nodal agency for the food processing industry in the state, would leave no stone unturned for ensuring that fillip was given to agro based industry so that farmers could reap its benefits. Mr. Mann said that at a time when the draconian anti-farmers laws of the Union government were hell bent upon breaking the backbone of the food growers, the Corporation would make concerted efforts to secure their future by giving fillip to the food processing industry.
On the occasion Managing Director of Corporation Mr Manjit Singh Brar, Directors of the board Mr Kiranjit Singh Mitha and Mr Ranjit Singh along with others were also present.
