Chandigarh, November 6 :
Director Food and Civil Supplies Punjab Anindita Mitra on Thursday informed that payment of Rs. 26,743,93 crore has been made for the procurement of paddy so far in the state.
Disclosing this while taking stock of paddy procurement at Partapura East Mandi today, Mitra informed that a total of 167,54,963 metric tonnes of Paddy has been procured from the procurement centres of Punjab till November 5, 2020. Out of which
15,38,6,722 metric tonnes have been lifted successfully.
She said that 16,69,7,286 metric tonnes of paddy has been procured by the government agencies and 57677 metric tonnes by the millers.
She further said that till November 5, 2020 Markfed procured 43,17,216 MT paddy, Punsup 35,19,946 MT, PSWC 17,86,493 MT, Pungrain 18,67,950 MT, FCI 35,19,946 MT and Miller’s 57,677 MT paddy.
Director Food and Civil Supplies said that out of total arrived 1051583 MT paddy, different agencies have procured 1051546 MT and 1011998 MT paddy has been lifted by them till November 5.
Reiterating state government’s commitment to redress all grievances of farmers on priority, she said that elaborate arrangements and efforts have been made in Punjab to ensure smooth procurement, lifting and payment of paddy so that farmers do not have to face any issue to sell their produce.
She said that paddy procurement and lifting is running smoothly and according to Punjab government’s directions payments have been made to farmers within 48 hours after the procurement by agencies.
She said following all health protocols to contain the spreading of Covid-19, appropriate arrangements have been made in the all mandis.
