Pearl Company’s assets being sold despite Supreme Court ruling: Sandhwan

Date:

Chandigarh, July 6

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA and Kisan Wing state president Kultar Singh Sandhwan alleged that despite the Supreme Court’s stay on the sale and purchase of Pearl Company’s properties; the land near Cycle Valley in Ludhiana was being sold by political leaders and higher officials. He said that like the Badals, Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh was defending the management of Pearl Company; the company that had looted crores of rupees from 30 lakh families in Punjab. Sandhwan was accompanied by MLAs Jai Kishan Singh Rodi and Amarjit Singh Sandoa.

Addressing the media during a press conference held at the party headquarters here on Tuesday, Kultar Singh Sandhwan said that Nirmal Singh Bhangu, Chief Manager, Pearl Company and others had invested money in their company from every household and at purchased lands at various places in Punjab, but the Pearl managers did not return the money to the people. Sandhwan alleged that neither the Badal government nor the government of Captain Amarinder Singh had taken any step to get the money of the people of Punjab back and instead of sending Nirmal Singh Bhangu to jail; he was provided security in luxurious hospitals in the name of medical treatment. Lashing out at Sukhbir Badal, Sandhwan said that Badal, who had organised ‘World Kabaddi Cup’ with the money looted by the Pearl Company from the people; should return crores of rupees of 30 lakh families.

The AAP leader said that the Supreme Court had in its 2016 order restrained the sale and purchase of Pearl Company’s assets and had constituted a committee headed by Justice Lodha to get the money of the investors returned. Sandhwan said that despite the stay of the court, out of 400 acres of land of Pearl Company worth Rs 10,000 crore in Ludhiana; some land was sold with the connivance of higher officials and political leaders. “Not only that but earlier soil and sand were sold from this land and now agriculture is being done there,” he added.

Sandhwan alleged that the agricultural earnings on the land and the sale of sand and soil did not go to the company, neither to the people and was also not credited to Sebi’s account. Lashing out at the Captain Amarinder Singh-led Punjab government, Sandhwan warned to stop the sale of Pearl Company’s assets or else the Aam Aadmi Party would stage dharnas in Punjab against the Congress government and legal action would be taken against the government for violating the orders of the Supreme Court.
