Chandigarh, April 13: In a welcome break from mud-slinging between the government and the Opposition, Technical Education Minister Charanjit Channi and Education Minister Aruna Chaudhary have decided to adopt AAP legislator HS Phoolka’s smart classroom project across the state.
Under the project, Phoolka, with the help of Aakash tablet fame Sunil Singh Tuli, has set up smart classrooms equipped with a laptop, projector and other accessories in nearly 17 primary schools in Dakha Assembly constituency.
He gave a presentation to the Congress ministers on Wednesday evening.
Channi will launch the project in his Chamkaur Sahib constituency. He said: “All schools in my constituency will have such a smart classroom. The project costs Rs 18,000 only. The panchayats can easily fund it. I will also contribute to it.”
Channi said he and Aruna Chaudhary liked the project irrespective of the fact that an Opposition leader had floated it. “Any constructive suggestion from the Opposition is welcome. The government will take their initiative forward without any bias,” Channi said.
Phoolka said he was delighted that the government was taking up the project. He added that a number of NRIs had donated funds for the project.
