New Delhi, September 15: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday launched “Swachhata Hi Seva”, a fortnight long movement to give a push to general greater public participation towards cleanliness in run up to the fourth anniversary of Swachh Bharat Mission on October 2, which will also mark commencement of the 150th year celebration of Mahatma Gandhi.
He did it through video conference.
In one-and-half hour programme, he interacted with cross-section of people at 18 centres in 13 states in the country during which he shared his views and obtained feeback on implementation of Swachhta Mission.
For starter, he interacted with students in Dibrugarh in Assam.
In his prefatory remark he congratulated the people for adopting the campaign during the launch.
A recent World Health Organisation report has said that the clesnliness drive has improved hygiene which has gone a long way in prevention of diseases among children.
In his interaction with the students in Dibrugarh in Assam, he louded the students and congratulated them in makng the movement a success.
Cine star Amitabh Bachchan and industrialist Ratan Tata also interacted Mumbai and pledged to support the cleanliness drive during their conversation with the PM.
