Police impound Thar of Punjab MLA’s husband

Chandigarh, January 5: A Mahindra Thar belonging to Punjab MLA Satkar Kaur Gehri’s husband was impounded by the Chandigarh Traffic Police after it was found parked in a no-parking zone in Sector 34. Besides, the driver was not possessing the documents of the vehicle.

ASI Sarwan Kumar was on duty when he saw the jeep parked in a no-parking area in Sector 34.

The ASI said the driver of the jeep was asked to show the documents, which he failed to produce. “The jeep was a 2017 model and still had a temporary number following which it was impounded, he said.

The driver of the jeep told the Assistant Sub-Inspector that the vehicle belonged to the MLA’s husband. He called up the MLA, who arrived at the spot. However, the vehicle was still impounded and taken to the Traffic Lines, Sector 39.

The police said the jeep was owned by the MLA’s husband.

The Assistant Sub-Inspector said that the jeep would be released only after the owner of the vehicle paid the fine and furnished the documents of the vehicle, including the registration, insurance and pollution certificates.

Assistant Sub-Inspector Sarwan Kumar had also recently challaned a Punjab and Haryana High Court vehicle for wrong parking.

The Toyota Corolla was found parked in a no-parking area in Sector 34 after which it was clamped by the ASI.
