Chandigarh, Jan 2: Minutes after a media group posted report of a questionable “order” on police promotions, Punjab police confirmed that the “order” circulating about promotions of police officials of Non-Gazetted ranks was a fake one.
Reacting to the report, IGP, Police Headquarters, Punjab Jatinder Singh Aulakh said it was a fake order being circulated on the social media regarding promotions from constables to Inspector rank.
“Please do not give any notice to this as no such orders have been passed by W/ DGP Pb. Please ensure that this is brought to the notice of the force in your respective units,” he said in the clarification issued late night on the New Year Eve.
The district police chiefs were asked in this fake order to comply by the DGPs instructions from January 1, 2018.
