Ropar, February 13: The district police have started convincing the relatives of gangster Dilpreet Singh Baba to make him surrender. Baba, a native of Dhahan village, near Nurpur Bedi, is wanted in several cases, including murder.
Dilpreet fled from the police custody when he was being taken to jail from Ropar court in May 2016 with the help of his accomplices. Later, he allegedly killed a resident of Nurpur Bedi and a sarpanch of Hoshiarpur at Sector 38 in Chandigarh.
Ropar SSP Raj Bachan Singh Sandhu today met the mother and uncles of Dilpreet and convinced them to make Dilpreet surrender. The relatives were assured that on surrender Baba would be able to join mainstream after facing the law.
Though the relatives claimed that Dilpreet was not in their touch, the SSP said he was hopeful of positive outcome.
He later held a meeting with a Punjabi singer, Durga Rangila, to convince the artiste to avoid glamorising gun culture in songs.
