‘Poshan Maah’ being celebrated as Jan Andolan: Aruna Chaudhary

Punjab Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Mrs. Aruna Chaudhary, on Thursday, informed that the fourth ‘Poshan Maah’ is being celebrated in the month of September as ‘Jan Andolan’ across the state and programs are being organized at various places.

In press release issued here, Mrs. Chaudhary said that for the multi-ministerial convergence mission ‘Poshan Abhiyaan’, the department has identified four basic themes for four weeks, which are Plantation Activity in form of Poshan Vatika at spaces available in Anganwadi Centres (AWCs), Schools, Panchayats and other public lands in first week, while Yoga and Ayush activities would be organized in second week. She mentioned that distribution of nutrition kits in high burden districts to Anganwadi beneficiaries with IEC material is the theme for the third week. Likewise, the drive for identification of SAM and distribution of nutritious food is the main objective of the fourth week.

The Cabinet Minister stated that the programme focuses on themes–Antenatal Care, Optimal Breastfeeding (Early & Exclusive), Complementary Feeding, Anaemia, Growth Monitoring, Girls-education, diet, right age of Marriage, Hygiene & Sanitation and Food Fortification. “Drive kick activity has already started from September 1, 2021 with plantation activity. Throughout the month, various other activities like promotion of regional food, distribution of nutrition kits to beneficiaries, yoga sessions and identification of SAM children will be carried out in coordination with the line departments”, she added.
