Date:

Chandigarh, June 28:

The property registration process is working smoothly post relaxation in COVID 19 restrictions with as many as 51007 documents registered in fifteen working days between June 07 to June 25, informed Ravneet Kaur, Additional Chief Secretary Revenue, after the meeting held to review the progress of National Generic Document Registration (NGDR) System.

As per the latest reports, between 7th to 12th June 2021 about 18,115 deeds were registered while during 15th to 19th June nearly 17,053 and in the four working days falling between 21st to 25th June, as many as 15,839 deeds were registered in the State.

Additional Chief Secretary Revenue further informed that minor glitches do occur once in a while due to overload on the servers but the process of registration has gathered momentum in last couple of weeks.

Various meetings have been held in last 10 days with NIC and the Department of Governance Reforms and they have been asked to further improve the performance of the website and their teams are working on it.

Pertinently, NGDRS was launched in Punjab in the year 2017 in the Sub registrar offices of Moga and Adampur and from 27th June, 2018 it was implemented in all the districts. The online registration of documents through NGDRS is running successfully in all the 175 Sub Registrar and Joint Sub Registrar Offices in the State of Punjab.

This System eases the citizens to register the documents in transparent manner. The Online Property Registration System makes registration very simple and citizen friendly. Punjab is the first State in the Country to launch and complete the roll out of NGDR System, an initiative of Government of India. More than 18 lakh documents have been registered through NGDR System till date.
