Previous govts responsible for Punjab’s deteriorating environmental conditions – Kang

Date:

Chandigarh, July 11: Terming the scrapping of Mattewara Textile Park project decision of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann ‘bold and brave’, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)’s chief spokesperson Malvinder Singh Kang on Monday said that the party has a dogged commitment to prevent environment pollution by making Punjab clean and green.

Welcoming the decision, Kang said that AAP is committed to protect the water, wood and air of Punjab to make the state prosperous and pollution less. It shows the firm determination of CM Mann toward legitimate concerns of the public.

Lamenting for not taking concrete steps by previous governments to safeguard the environment in Punjab, Kang said that Congress and SAD-BJP government are responsible for deteriorating environmental conditions in the state.

He said that this project was approved by former CM Captain Amarinder Singh’s government as the centre wanted to develop a Textile Park over 1000 acres on this land by ignoring its egregious effects on the environment and ecology system of Punjab.

Kang said that Mattewara Forest purifies Ludhiana’s air and is home to vibrant wildlife and AAP will not allow anyone to construct an industrial unit there. He said that an alternative land for the project would be given for the development of a Textile Park in the state.
