CHANDIGARH, NOVEMBER 19:
Terming roll back of three contentious farm laws by the Union Government, Punjab Agriculture Minister Mr. Randeep Singh Nabha on Friday said that country’s farmers’ emerged victorious as ‘pride came before a fall’.
Mr. Nabha stated that Narinder Modi led Government should have taken this decision long back but they carried forward their stubborn attitude. He said that the hardships faced by the country’s farmers’ were quite laudable to make world’s biggest ever farm protest a great success, which forced the Union Government to scrap said dubious laws.
The Minister said that the Centre’s decisions was also commendable as the announcement came on this pious day. He also urged the Centre to rehabilitate the families those had lost their near and dear ones in the agitation against these black farm laws. He also demanded compensation for the families of farmers who loss their lives during this protest.
Describing it a much delayed but a welcome step, the Agriculture Minister mentioned that the Centre was adamant on this issue but finally understood the real sentiments of farmers.
More than 700 of our farmer brothers and sisters have lost their lives during the agitation to get these laws abolished, Nabha said their sacrifices would be ever remembered by one all which finally led to repeal these draconian anti-farmer legislations.
These laws were completely irrelevant and out of sync with farmers’ aspirations said Nabha adding that Centre should have taken farming decisions, which safeguard the interest of country’s peasantry.
