Pro-people AAP first to not hike electricity tariffs: Dr Sunny Singh Ahluwalia

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab has decided to not increase power tariffs in the state and continued all subsidies. Welcoming this decision of Bhagwant Mann government, AAP leader and party spokesperson Dr. Sunny Singh Ahluwalia termed it as pro-people and pro-Punjab decision. He added that Aam Aadmi Party will live up to its election promise of 300 units free electricity per month soon and with this decision it is clear that AAP government won’t levy any hiked tariffs on exceeded power use from 600 units per bill.

Dr. Sunny Ahluwalia said that since 2002 AAP government is the first government in Punjab who came in power and retained old power tariffs. He said that Bhagwant Mann led AAP government is continuously taking decisions to benefit common people as much as possible and this decision will ensure that the consumers of state will not be burdened with any increase. He added that Punjab government’s decision to continue all electricity related subsidies proved that in AAP government is government of all sections and no one will be burdened with any kind of increased financial load.

He also appreciated AAP Punjab government’s decision to reduce energy charges for consumption of power exceeding the threshold limit and continuation with special night tariff of Rs 4.86 per kVAh. He said that keeping its promise to encourage and to help flourish industry in Punjab, Bhagwant Mann led AAP government accepted their demand to increase the facility hours to use night category electricity by 4 hours rising it from 6am to 10am.
