PSPCL tightens noose around power thieves, slaps penalty in lacs

Ferozepur, November 28, 2017: The Punjab State Power Corporation Limited – PSPCL  has intensified its drive to effectively curb power thefts and in the course of intensive checking, 27 cases of theft and extra load in nine villages of Zira Circle and a penalty of Rs.6.23 lac has been imposed on defaulters.

Deputy Chief Engineer (Enforcement) Bahtinda informed that a special checking was made by the teams of Moga, Muktsar, Ferozepur, Bahtinda-1 and Bahinda-2 in nine villages of Zira Circle – Bandala Bamb, Maloke, Shahwala, Basti Punjabi Wali, Bahalpur, Basti Machian, Mansian Kalan, Mansian Khurd and Kachhar Bhant.

In all, 27 cases of theft and use of extra load than the sanctioned were detected and fine of Rs.6.23 lac was imposed.

DCC(E) appealed to the people to restrain from the theft of power and use the power supply judiciously and under the rules.

He also advised the people to come forward to report the theft cases to the Board authorities to stop the theft of the cases so as to make arrangements to provide uninterrupted power supply to the consumers.

It may be added here that the Punjab Government is facing financial crisis but out of the Rs.6000 crore free power supply in the state, Rs.4000 is being given to mostly those people who can afford it include MP, Minister, MLAs, industrialists and officers as per the news appeared in one of the leading paper.
