On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the Punjab State Rural Livelihood Mission (PSRLM) under the aegis of the Rural Development and Panchayats Department today held a mega function here today with a view to boost women entrepreneurship and ensure their empowerment.
The Financial Commissioner, Rural Development and Panchayats Rahul Bhandari while exhorting the women to be financially independent said that those women who are connected with the Self Help Groups (SHGs) must have a personal bank account as well as an ATM card. He also said that every woman in SHG should be literate and work with the missionary zeal.
The Financial Commissioner further pointed out the significance of proper marketing, branding and standardization, export and online sale for the products manufactured by the SHGs.
The various Self Help Groups (SHGs) that put up stalls included Ekta, Suani and Ekta (Tarn Taran, Gurdaspur and Barnala), Sehaj (S.A.S. Nagar), Gurkirpa (Patiala), Guru Gobind Singh Ji (Bathinda), Ekam Ajeevika (Ludhiana), Mehar (Gurdaspur), Jai Maa Lakshmi Group (Hoshiarpur), Baba Nanak (S.A.S. Nagar), Krishna (Sangrur), Jagriti (S.A.S. Nagar), Kranti CLF (Patiala), Nari Shakti (Pathankot), Kirat (Sangrur), Jiwan Ajeevika (Patiala), Green Gold (Gurdaspur), Zaffarwal (Gurdaspur), Prince, Roshni (Gurdaspur), Ekamkar (Bathinda), Amandeep Mahra (Patiala) and Kudrat (S.A.S. Nagar).
The Financial Commissioner also felicitated the Self Help Groups besides the Mates working under NREGA.
A team of girls from Mansa showcased Giddha and regaled the audience.
Among others, Director, Rural Development and Panchayats Manpreet Singh, Joint Director Sarabjeet Singh Walia, Deputy Directors Sanjeev Garg, Joginder Kumar, Jatinder Singh Brar, Vinod Gagat and ACEO (PSRLM) Jaspal Singh Jassi.
