Punjab Budget : FM proposes development tax on Income Tax payees

Manpreet Badal proposes Development Tax Rs 200 per month

Chandigarh, March 24: Punjab Finance Minister Manpreet Badal on Saturday proposed development tax on the Income Tax payees engaged in professions, trades, callings and employments as part of the government’s additional resource mobilisation measures.

Presenting the annual budget for 2018-19, the Finance Minister said the government would bring in a legislation for imposing Development Tax of Rs 200 per month.

He cited examples of states like Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka, AP and Tamil Nadu where this tax collection is being made for a long time
