Chandigarh, November 1: Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has congratulated the people of Punjab for successfully steering the state on the path to development and progress despite the 1966 bifurcation which deprived it of several vital resources.
Instead of allowing the state to suffer regression in the wake of the Akali-led division, the people, with their inherent resilience and courage, worked hard to enable Punjab’s development over the years, said the Chief Minister. He lauded the contribution of every Punjabi in boosting productivity and growth, and thanked them for putting the state as a shining star on India’s map.
Notwithstanding the repeated efforts of the Akalis to push back the state’s development agenda through its anti-people policies, Punjab continues to move aggressively forward on the path of progress, thanks to the dedicated labours of its people, said Captain Amarinder, in a statement issued here on the occasion of Punjab Day.
Though the state witnessed a setback, with the SAD-BJP government of the past 10 years doing everything in its power to reverse its development, Punjab is once again at the cusp of exceptional growth under the people-friendly policies of the Congress government, he added.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister reiterated his promise to the people of Punjab that he would bring back their lost smiles and ensure that his government delivers on the mandate on which the Congress fought and won the Assembly elections earlier this year.
He declared his unequivocal commitment to implementing every single promise made to the people during the poll campaign, despite the financial debt burden inherited by his government from the corrupt SAD-BJP government.
Captain Amarinder, who is currently in Mumbai to woo investment and industry for Punjab, said that with the massive support and response received so far from the captains of industry, he was confident that the state would once again lead the nation in its progressive revolution.
