MEHRAJ (BATHINDA), JANUARY 28: To give a total facelift to the historic village Mehraj, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Monday announced development funds to the tune of Rs. 28 crores for upgradation of basic infrastructure and civic amenities in the area.
The Chief Minister said that buildings of Cooperative Societies would be upgraded at a cost of Rs 50 lakhs while Rs. 2 crores had been set aside for de-silting and scientific upgradation of village ponds.
Captain Amarinder also announced Rs 2 crores for Yadavindra Stadium, Rs 50 lakhs for upgradation of Primary Health Centre and Rs 2 crores for construction of modern Village Secretariat, whereas Rs 25 lacs would be spent on Mobile Soil Testing Van.
The Chief Minister, who was here for farm debt waiver programme, said that Rs. 65 lakhs would be spent on 2.4 km stretch of New Link Road of Bathinda-Barnala Road to Kothe Kapawale, and Rs. 18 lakhs on New Link Road – Marhi Road to Gumutsar-a stretch of 700 m. The Chief Minister announced special repair of 6 Link roads at a cost of Rs. 1.21 crores, and Rs 4.60 crores for widening & strengthening of Mehraj to Rampura road – a stretch of 5.45 km.
In Water Supply and Sanitation, Captain Amarinder announced NABARD assisted upgradation of Water Supply & Sewerage in Mehraj at a cost of Rs. 8.36 crore.

In order to further impart quality education, the State Government would ensure the upgradation of girls and boys secondary schools at a cost of Rs one crore and facelift of the primary school with Rs. 25 lakhs, besides Rs 48 lakhs for upgradation of 24 Anganwari Centres, the Chief Minister announced.
The Chief Minister also announced Rs. 1.22 crores for rejuvenation of procurement centres by Mandi Board and repair of water channels (Khaalas) at a cost of Rs. 50 lakhs.

Announcing Rs One crore for 8 Gram Panchayats of Mehraj for development, the Chief Minister said that of this, Rs 14 lakhs would be provided to Kothe Maha Singh, Rs 15 lakhs for Kothe Pipli, Rs 23 lakhs for Gurusar Mehraj, Rs. 20 lakhs for Mehraj Khurd, Rs. 6.50 lakhs for Kothe Malluana, Rs. 4.50 lakhs for Kothe Talwali, Rs 11 lakhs for Rathrian and Rs. 6 lakhs for Hommatpura.
Captain Amarinder said that Rs. 25 lakhs would be provided for five High Mast Lights in Mehraj Nagar Panchayat area.
