CHANDIGARH/ANAND SHAHR (GUJARAT), APRIL 22: With a view to giving a fillip to dairy farming in the state, Punjab Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal on Friday visited Amul plants in Anand Shahar and Gandhinagar. The Minister also held significant discussions with the experts and sought cooperation from Amul to further quality improvement of dairy products.
During his visit to intensify efforts for dairy development, the Minister, who is in Gujarat for the last three days, also met the Chairman National Dairy Development Board, dairy experts and officers of Amul so that the dairy farming and related trades could be boosted.
After taking a round of Amul plants, the Minister said that the Punjab Government would take the cooperative movement to each and every village so that the dairy farmers could get remunerative prices for their products. The Amul is also like Punjab’s Verka having wider reach of its dairy and other products at foreign shores, said the Minister adding that Bhagwant Mann led Punjab Government’s main objective was to further strengthen the cooperative movement to make the dairy farming and allied sectors a more lucrative livelihood. He said that efforts would be made to speed up efforts to bring more dairy farmers under cooperative movement, which would certainly make this venture more profitable besides enhancing the quality of products with the support and cooperation from other renowned agencies in the dairy development sector.
Emphasising the need to connect dairy farmers with professional skills and latest advancements, Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal said that Punjab dairy farmers would be imparted training of current techniques besides providing latest equipment at subsidised rates. The Amul is a cooperative establishment and he visited the plants to get the info on different aspects related to dairy development, milk and milk products, said the Minister adding that he has sought technical support from Amul for further improving the quality of milk products in Punjab besides extending cooperation in marketing of cooperative products in international market.
The Minister also went to the main office of National Dairy Development Board, Amulfed, Gandhinagar, Gujarat Dairy Plant, Ice Cream Plant, Dairy Plant, Chocolate Plant, Bull Breeding Plant, Dr. V. Kurien Museum, Sardar Patel Assembly Hall and D.C.S. Sandesar.
The Minister also met Managing Director Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation Limited, Anand Dr. R.S. Sodhi, C.O.O Jaiin Mehta, AGM H.P. Rathore, Chairman National Dairy Development Board Manish Shah, MD Kaira District Cooperative Milk Producer Union Limited (Amul Dairy) Amit Vyas, H.O. Kuldeeep Singh, Coordinator Amarjit Singh and Indian Rural Management Institute Anand’s Director Umakant Dash.
