Punjab decides to prepare directory of Freedom Fighters

To give the due recognition to the soldiers of Indian freedom struggle, the Punjab government has decided to prepare the Directory of the Freedom Fighters of the state.

With the commitment towards welfare of Freedom Fighters, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann led government took this decision, on Thursday, in a meeting presided over by Cabinet Minister Fauja Singh Sarari.

It was decided that for ensuring proper implementation of schemes related to the freedom fighters, the meticulous and consolidated handy information of the freedom fighters is needed to compile, hence the directory of Freedom Fighters will be prepared.

While reviewing the functioning of the Department of Freedom Fighters and Defence Services, the Minister instructed that directory should be compiled of all the living Freedom Fighters of Punjab. He also directed to shoot letters to various departments for filling all vacant posts reserved for freedom fighters at the earliest.

Meanwhile, the Cabinet Minister directed to explore the feasibility for implementing cashless healthcare scheme for the treatment of freedom fighters besides ensuring the implementation of the policies and schemes for them in a true spirit.
