Punjab DGP asks SSPs to assist candidates to prepare for written test of SI, Constable recruitment

The free physical coaching and training sessions embarked by the Punjab Police ahead of recruitments of constables, head-constables and sub-inspectors have been receiving an overwhelming response as over 20000 aspirants across the state have started their training for Physical Screening Test (PST) under the supervision of trained coaches and drill instructors.

Notably, following directions from Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Dinkar Gupta, all the CPs/SSPs had commenced the free coaching sessions for various physical trial events in their concerned districts from June 27, 2021.

Sharing details, DGP Dinkar Gupta said that over 20000 candidates, of which about a third are females, who aspire to join the Police force, have started their physical training at Police Line grounds of districts. Besides the Police Lines, the Punjab Government had also thrown open Public Spaces, Public Parks and Stadia for the practice/preparation.

The DGP said that apart from trained manpower, the Police are also providing required Sports equipment, including High Jump stand/mattresses and long jump infrastructure for the practice of candidates.

Some of the districts have already started providing written examination coaching to the candidates as a goodwill gesture with a view to recruit the best talent available in the State also, on directions from DGP Dinkar Gupta. Soon, all the other districts will start assisting the candidates for their Written Tests also as well so that fair and equal opportunity could be provided to every prospective candidate and they can participate in the upcoming Police recruitments in an absolutely free, fair and transparent manner.

He said that the nodal officers have been nominated for each district, who will help candidates in physical training and free coaching classes will be continued till the recruitment process is underway. Any candidate interested in joining the free coaching could contact the nodal officers who have been designated for each district, he added.

DGP Dinkar Gupta informed that online applications to directly recruit 560 Sub-Inspectors, in different cadres including District Police, Armed Police, Investigation and Intelligence officers, have already been invited and interested candidates can submit their applications by July 27, 2021.

He said that the applications to directly recruit nearly 4400 constables, in District and Armed cadres, would also go live within a week and interested candidates will be able submit their applications.

DGP Dinkar Gupta once again urged the youth of Punjab to seize the opportunity and start preparations for the Written and Physical Screening Test in the right earnest. He assured the aspirants that the Police recruitments would be carried out in an absolutely fair and transparent manner.

Meanwhile, the PST consists of three physical trial events, including 1600 metre run, high jump and long jump. However, the parameters for Physical Screening Test would be different for Female candidates and Ex-Servicemen.
