Punjab Govt tells district administration to cover drain

Sangrur, August 6: Taking notice of The Tribune report, “Drain raises stink on school campus” (August 4), the state government has directed the district administration to redress the issue at the earliest. The report had highlighted that an open drain passed through the campus of Government Primary School, Ram Nagar Basti, causing inconvenience to teachers as well as students.

Deputy Commissioner Amarpratap Singh Virk directed SDM Avikesh Gupta to visit the spot and prepare a detailed report. Later, the SDM and senior officers of the Nagar Council (NC) visited the school.

“I have directed the NC staff to get the drain cleaned by tomorrow and cover it with cement slabs,” the DC added.
