December 8, 2021: The Punjab Governor and Administrator UT Chandigarh, Sh. Banwarilal Purohit has condoled the sudden unfortunate demise of Chief of Defence Staff Gen Bipin Rawat, PVSM, UYSM,AVSM,YSM,SM,VSM,ADC, his wife Mrs Madhulika Rawat and the defense personnel aboard the ill-fated aircraft that crashed in the upper Coonoor on Wednesday afternoon.
The Governor prayed for the departed souls to rest in peace. In his message, Governor Sh. Purohit said, “The news of the passing away of Gen Rawat is extremely shocking and painful; he was an extremely intelligent, motivated and dedicated officer. The unfortunate demise of Gen Rawat, highly awarded for gallantry and distinguished service is a national loss.”
I express my heartfelt condolences to the family members of the bereaved and their colleagues. My thoughts and prayers are with the families of the defense personnel who lost their lives today in the tragic accident.
