Punjab govt committed for providing transparent, effective and responsive governance in the state: CM

Date:

Jalandhar, May 17:

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Wednesday said that the state government is committed for providing transparent, effective and responsive governance in the state.

Addressing the gathering during the flagship program of ‘Sarkaar Tuhaade Dwaar’, the Chief Minister said that though the state government is not having a magic wand but then also they are making concerted efforts to restore the pristine glory of the state. He envisioned that the day is not far when due to strenuous efforts of the state government, Punjab will emerge as a frontrunner state in the country. Bhagwant Mann said that they had already rolled out a comprehensive plan for carving out a rangla Punjab for the coming generations.

The Chief Minister quipped that his predecessors had never come out of their palatial palaces during their stints but he had been moving in every nook and corner of the state to usher in a new era of peace, progress and prosperity. He said that this momentum will be carried on in the coming days to ensure that the development and prosperity of the state gets a major fillip. Bhagwant Mann said that strenuous efforts are being made in this regard adding that this noble cause cannot be completed without the support of people.

Highlighting the significance of Sarkar Tuhaade Dwaar, the Chief Minister said that it was a flagship program of his government for the progress of the state and prosperity of its people. He said that this program finds no parallel across the country as no other state government bothers to spare so much time for the people by solving their problems at their doorsteps. Bhagwant Mann said that this program helps in quick resolution of public problems on one hand besides judging the performance of the government officers/officials on the other.

The Chief Minister said that this pro-people initiative, stipulates that the officers especially the Deputy Commissioners and Additional Deputy Commissioners maximize their field visits, especially in villages, and interact with the people by going to villages. He said that it is the need of the hour to facilitate the people in getting their day-to-day works done easily besides ensuring good governance to them. Bhagwant Mann said that this will help in better functioning of the offices along with better acquaintance with the ground realities.

The Chief Minister said that as per this program only the meeting of Cabinet was held earlier at Ludhiana and today the Council of Ministers has met at Jalandhar. He said that the motive is to make sure that the benefit of the government schemes reaches at the doorsteps of people. Bhagwant Mann said that the government is leaving stone unturned to give a major fillip to the development of the state and prosperity of its people.

The Chief Minister said that the state government has given jobs to more than 29,000 youth in the state adding that the state government is accomplishing the gigantic task of giving the jobs to youth in a phased manner. He said that transparency and merit are the two key pillars of this entire recruitment drive. Bhagwant Mann said that a foolproof mechanism has been adopted for the entire recruitment process due to which not even a single appointment out of more than 29000 has been challenged so far in the court.

The Chief Minister said that the youth has given affirmative responsibility to the entire process of recruitment as they have got chances to grow and prosper. Citing an example, he said that a youth was recruited as clerk in the beginning after which he got elevated to Assistant Lineman with his hard work and later as Sub Divisional Officer (SDO). Bhagwant Mann hoped that this momentum will continue in the coming days too for the welfare of the youth and holistic development of the state.

Congratulating people for the victory of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Jalandhar Lok Sabha seat, the Chief Minister said that it was vindication of the state government’s people-centric policies, marking the total rejection of the negative, divisive and toxic politics of the opposition. He said the people of Jalandhar Parliamentary Segment had voted for positive change and development, which his government is committed to delivering. Bhagwant Mann described the results of the Jalandhar Lok Sabha by-election as a massive victory for the positive agenda of peace, communal harmony, brotherhood and development in the state.

The Chief Minister further said that this is also a forceful mandate against politics of negative, destructive ideas and forces who had sought to destabilize Punjab and hamper its progress through their anti-peace and anti-Punjab activities in recent times. He said that this should serve as a loud message to the negative and divisive forces who tried to inject violence and instability in Punjab. On the other hand, Bhagwant Mann said that this is victory of the pro-people and development oriented policies introduced by his government for the well being of people.

The Chief Minister said that the victory of the party has once again demonstrated people’s full faith and confidence in the policies and programmes of the state government. He said that poll results were a “triumph of clean, transparent and good governance of the state government over the malicious propaganda based on divisive politics and dirty tactics applied by the opposition. Bhagwant Mann profusely thanked the leaders and workers of AAP for working selflessly and tirelessly for the victory of party’s candidate Sushil Kumar Rinku in this poll.
