Punjab govt sakhi one stop center for women is best initiative

Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann ‘Sakhi’ One Stop Center is one of the best initiatives in the schemes being run the welfare of women and girls. Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Dr Baljit Kaur said that ‘Sakhi’ one Stop Centres 11500 needy women and girls have been provided free legal aid, medical aid, police assistance and counseling.

Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister, giving information in this regard, said that one stop centre has been opened in every district of Punjab under the One Stop Centre Scheme. These one-stop centres provide various free services like medical assistance, police-related assistance, legal assistance, psychological and counseling assistance under one roof to distress women.

Dr. Baljit Kaur said that efforts are also made to settle the cases through counseling, so success rate of centres is very high. Sakhi One Stop Centres are running in civil hospitals of different districts, she added.

Dr. Baljit Kaur said that the main objective of this scheme is to provide shelter and assistance to women in distress. She said that any needy woman or girl can contact with Sakhi centres at district offices phone numbers to avail services of the centres.
