Chandigarh, November 3: Punjab Rural Development and Panchayats Minister Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa on Friday said that the state’s gram panchayat elections would be held either in the last week of November or the first week of December.
“Some changes related to the 50 percent reservation of women candidates has to be made in the law, but after making the necessary changes, the State Government has already issued an ordinance regarding the same two days ago,” he said while assuring that the Gram Panchayat elections would be held as planned.
“The gram panchayat elections will be held in a free and fair manner,” said Bajwa while speaking to the media persons while attending a function at GHG Academy near Jagraon.
He said that the process of appointing chairmans of Block Samitis and Zila Parishads would be carried out right after the completion of Gram Panchayat elections.
