Punjab Jail Department refutes claims of lodging Navjot Sidhu and drugs suspect in same barrack

Date:

Chandigarh, May 22:

Punjab Jails Department, on Sunday, refuted all the allegations being labelled against the jails department in the case of Navjot Singh Sidhu. While giving details, an official spokesperson said that there was not any lapse on the part of jail administration and the protocol was being meticulously followed the department.

It is pertinent to mention that some unverified reports were taking rounds that Navjot Singh Sidhu shared his barrack for sometime with Inderjeet Singh, ex-Inspector Punjab Police against whom some cases are registered.

The spokesperson categorically said that those reports were devoid of any truth and are totally false, baseless and defamatory. He said that Inderjeet Singh has been lodged in a separate barrack and he never shared any barack with Mr. Sidhu since his admission in the prison.

He said that Mr. Sidhu is lodged in a barrack where some other inmates have also been lodged, whose antecedents have been thoroughly verified before putting them with him (Sidhu), keeping in view the security concerns.
