Chandigarh, November 1: The Punjab Police Wednesday bagged the Union Home Ministry’s Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS) award for the development of the Digital Criminal Intelligence Gazette and the generation of the State Crime Record Bureau (SCRB) reports.
CCTNS was launched in the state earlier this year to keep digitised records of FIRs and information on crimes and criminals.
Union Home Secretary Rajiv Gauba, Director Intelligence Bureau Rajiv Jain, Director National Crime Records Bureau Ish Kumar and Joint Secretary in the Home Ministry Punya Srivastava conferred the award to DGP IT&T, Punjab, V K Bhawra, according to an official release issued here.
DGP Suresh Arora said this was a proud moment for the Punjab Police.
Bhawra also received an individual award for his immense contribution in the CCTNS implementation in Punjab, Arora said.
In-charge, Range Training School Bathinda, Inspector Major Singh, System Administrator, Sangrur, constable Bhupinder Singh and state project monitoring unit, IT&T, constable Gurpreet Singh were also felicitated for their contribution to this project, he added
