Chandigarh, June 29
Punjab police SIT, after procuring the arrest warrant from the competent court in Mansa, on Wednesday got remand of notorious gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuria alias Jagdeep Singh in a bid to further investigate Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala’s murder case. Jaggu, a resident of Bhagwanpura in Batala, reportedly has close links with Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Two of the shooters from Punjab in Moosewala’s killing were reportedly provided by him. His role had also figured during the investigation in facilitating and providing logistics and other support to the assailants involved in Punjabi singer’s shootout.
Jaggu’s main area of operation is Amritsar and border range but of late he has been involved in cases across Punjab and its neighbouring states.
The gangster has around 68 criminal cases registered against him which include murder, contract killing, robbery, extortion besides cross border smuggling of drugs and weapons.
Jaggu’s gang reportedly has rivalry with Davinder Bambiha gang. However, the gangster is believed to be close to Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang as both gangs reportedly exchanged their shooters with each other at times while committing sensational crimes.
In September 2014, Jaggu killed another gangster Sanjiv Kumar alias Bubba in Amritsar, who was out from Jail on parole. He (Bubba) was serving life imprisonment for killing another gangster Raju Chikna in January 2010 in Amritsar court complex.
Jaggu was arrested by Amritsar rural police in July 2015. He reportedly operates his gang from inside the jail through mobile phone, social media etc.
In 2021, Jaggu was the main conspirator in the killing of Rana Kandowalia, his arch rival in the border zone. He is now being brought from Delhi on a transit remand before the competent court in Mansa.
