Moga April, 1: A special cell of the Moga police has arrested three gangsters and recovered two revolvers and 480 gm of intoxicating powder from them. The police claim that the arrested gangsters are aides of gangster Sukhpreet Singh, alias Buddha, who is wanted in over 15 cases of murder, robbery and other heinous crimes.
The SP (D) of Moga, Vazir Singh, and Inspector Kikkar Singh, incharge of the special cell, confirmed the arrests. They said those arrested were Sukhwinder Singh, alias Sukha; Rajwinder Singh, alias Raju; and Parminder Singh, alias Dhani; all natives of Zira subdivision of Ferozepur district.
A .32 bore revolver and 260 gm of intoxicating powder have been recovered from Sukhwinder, another .32 bore revolver and 110 gm of intoxicating powder has been recovered from Rajwinder Singh and 110 gm of intoxicating powder has been recovered from Parminder Singh, the third gangster, the SP (D) said.
They were travelling in a Scorpio jeep when a team of the local police stopped them for checking at Mehmewala Chowk in Moga on Friday night. DSP (D) Sarbjit Singh Bahia reached the sport immediately and took them into custody.
Many local businessmen had complained that they were receiving phone calls from these gangsters demanding money. On the intervening night of March 12 and March 13, the gangsters burnt the SUV of Nihalsinghwala MC president Inderjit Garg, who is also a businessman. He, too, had received many extortion calls but as he had refused to pay any ransom, the gangsters started threatening him.
The arrested gangsters have also named Navtej Singh of Dhurkot Ransinh village, Varinder Pal Singh of Buttar Kalan village and Alam Singh of Barnala, who accompanied them to burn the vehicle.A case under various sections of the NDPS Act, Arms Act and the Indian Penal Code has been registered against the arrested gangsters at the Moga city police station. They were produced before a local judicial magistrate who sent them to a two-day police remand.
