Chandigarh, October 31: The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Tuesday summoned the original record pertaining to the appointment of Suresh Kumar as the Chief Principal Secretary to the Punjab Chief Minister.
Justice Rajan Gupta ordered its production before the court on Tuesday, when the case will come up for resumed hearing. As the case came up for hearing, reply on behalf of the Union of India filed in the court was taken on record.
Justice Gupta observed that replies on behalf of two other respondents were already on record.
The appointment had come under judicial scanner after a petition was filed by advocate Ramandeep Singh through counsel HS Brar. The appointment was challenged on the ground that it was against the Constitutional scheme and accepted norms.
Referring to the appointment letter laying down terms and conditions, Brar had asserted that the tenure of respondent —Suresh Kumar — was made co-terminus with the government.
