Punjab Vigilance arrests conduit of dismissed ASI Inderjit Singh in corruption case

Chandigarh April 26 : The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its ongoing campaign against corruption in the state, on Wednesday arrested a private person Raminderpal Singh Prince, resident of Mission Compound, Jalandhar who was absconding in a police case since more than four years. He was indulged in collection of bribes for ASI Inderjit Singh, incharge CIA Tarntaran, who had been dismissed in NDPS case.

Disclosing this here today, a spokesperson of the VB said in this regard a case FIR no. 01, dated 12-02-2015 under sections 7, 8, 13(2) of prevention of corruption act was registered at Bureau’s flying squad-1, police station, Punjab at Mohali. The above said accused was declared proclaimed offender (PO) by the SAS Nagar court on 04-01-2019 and was evading his arrest since then.

Giving details he further informed that this case was registered on the basis of a vigilance enquiry ordered to investigate the allegations alleged in the FIR No 14, dated 11-11-2013 registered at VB flying squad-1, police station, Punjab at SAS Nagar. He added that during the investigation accused Jagdeep Singh, resident of village Seha, Ludhiana district, posted as laboratory attendant at State Chemical Examiner Laboratory, Kharar, SAS Nagar, had revealed that Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Inderjit Singh, then incharge CIA, Tarntaran had taken a bribe of Rs 10 lakh from him and Rs 3.50 lakh from Parminder Singh, Analyst, posted in the above said laboratory by threatening to register a NSPS case against both of them.

The spokesperson added that the above said accused Jagdeep Singh further revealed that the accused ASI had taken this bribe through two private persons namely above said Raminderpal Singh Prince and Pawan Kumar, resident of village Nawan Pind Gatewala, Kapurthala district. He further alleged that the above said accused Pawan Kumar had taken Rs 3 lakh and Rs 1.50 lakh from him and Parminder Singh, which were to be handed over to the said ASI. Out of this total bribe money of Rs 17 lakh, Raminderpal Singh Prince had received Rs 2 lakh. After probing the allegations this case was registered against all the above mentioned accused namely ASI Inderjit Singh, Pawan Kumar and Raminderpal Singh. The later has been arrested and would be produced in the competent court SAS Nagar tomorrow. Further investigation in this case was under progress, he added.
