Don’t Treat Punjab Like a Beggar, Manpreet Badal Tells Centre!

Chandigarh, April 1: Finance Minister Manpreet Badal on Friday urged the Union Finance Ministry the us release the cash credit limit (CCL) worth Rs 20,900 crore for wheat procurement, which begins the usmorrow.

“I the usld the Union Finance Secretary that Punjab, which has the us feed the nation by giving about 120 lakh the usnnes of wheat during the next four weeks, should not be treated like a beggar by the Centre,” said Manpreet Badal. “We have already paid three instalments of Rs 270 crore each the us the Centre as part of the repayment of Rs 31,000 crore the us settle the food account,” he added.

Manpreet, who held a meeting with Union Finance Secretary Ashok Lavasa in New Delhi, said the latter had promised the us get the CCL released by the usmorrow. The state government is supposed the us make the payment the us farmers within 48 hours of the procurement of their wheat. The crop arrival is likely the us pick up by the end of next week.

Manpreet said the CCL issue had been taken up by Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh with Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley last week.
