Abohar, August 30 : Border Security Force (BSF) troops on Wednesday seized 10 packets of contraband, suspected to be heroin, in area of Border Outpost Shamaske near Abohar sector. The weight of the recovered contraband is said to be 10.740 kgs. A press note issued by the BSF stated that some suspicious sound was heard by the troops deployed on duty but due to bad weather nothing could be observed.
The troops immediately reacted and alerted the nearby sentries and challenged the suspects, but taking advantage of bad weather, dark night and undulating ground, the suspects managed to escape.
After first light, search on both sides of ‘Border Security Fence’ was carried out. During the search, security forces recovered 10 packets of the contraband.
Mukul Goel, IPS, Inspector General BSF Punjab Frontier has issued operational guidelines to all the Sectors under Punjab Frontier for further strengthening the border domination so as to effectively check activities of anti – national elements on Punjab border with Pakistan.
With this seizure, BSF troops have seized a total of 136.664 Kgs kg of heroin including seizure of 10.740 kgs, besides several other seizures on the Punjab border in 2017 so far.
