Chandigarh, February 11: Coming out with a sequel to a blockbuster movie has been a tried and tested success formula. Starting from the RomCom ‘Jatt and Juliet’ which helped Diljit Dosanjh register his prowess at acting, the Punjabi industry has used this formula to its advantage.
But the trend has been to make the sequel on a different level with not much similarity to the original. They have turned out to be two different concepts with different stories. But breaking the practice is Rabb the Radio, whose sequel is picking up from where the story ended.
The 2017 hit ‘Rabb Da Radio 2’ will see the turns that Manjinder and Guddi’s relationship will take post-marriage.
The teaser was posted by Jassar on his Instagram:
‘Rabb Da Radio 2’ will have BN Sharma, Avtar Gill, Nirmal Rishi, Jagjeet Sandhu, Harby Sangha, Gurpreet Bhangu, Shivandra Mahal, Sunita Dhir, Tania, and Baljinder Kaur playing pivotal roles. The sequel is being directed by Sharan Art on the story line given by Jass Grewal. The music of the film is being released under Vehli Janta Records.
The Lead of film, Tarsem Jassar said, “Rabb Da Radio is very close to my heart. It introduced me as an actor. And we are blessed with the response the movie got in 2017. For Rabb Da Radio 2, we have tried our best so that we can live up to the set standards.”
Talking about her role, Simmi Chahal said, “Guddi is one character which has not only helped evolve me as an actor but as a person too. So, I am excited to play it again. This time she is more mature but retaining her same old innocence. I just hope Rabb Da Radio 2 will also be able to mark its place in everyone’s heart.”
“We always try to promote good content. Producing the sequel of a hit film is very risky, but we are confident about our product and concept. We wish audiences will accept our efforts with open arms”, Producers Manpreet Johal and Ashu Munish Sahni said.
Rabb Da Radio 2 will release on 29th March, 2019.
