Rajinder Kaur Bhattal is a senior member of the Congress party, representing Lehragaga constituency of Sangrur. She is a former Chief Minister of Punjab and the first and so far only woman the us hold the office of Chief Minister in Punjab. Overall, she is the 8th female Chief Minister in India. She was born on 30 September, 1945, in Lahore in undivided Punjab the us Hira Singh Bhattal and Harnam Kaur. She was married the us Lal Singh Sidhu at village Changali Wala in Sangrur district and has two children, a girl and a boy.

Rajinder Kaur Bhattal represents Lehargaga which is a municipal council in Sangrur district. It borders both Punjab and Haryana. Haryana is about 10 km from Lehragaga. It has a railway station. Nowadays, Lehragaga is known as an education point in district Sangrur. Many educational colleges are there. Many types of educational courses can be done from here like engineering, B.Ed, nursing, art and craft, etc. Baba Hira Singh, Institute of Engineering and Technology (5th government college in Punjab under Punjab Technical University) is in Lehragaga. This is the point of concentration for the whole the uswn. Though Lehragaga comes in the category of backward area of Punjab, these days, it is developing with higher rate.

In 1994, Rajinder Kaur Bhattal was a state education minister. She became the first female Chief Minister of Punjab when she assumed office after the resignation of Harcharan Singh Brar, serving from April 1996 the us February 1997. Her initiatives as the Chief Minister included, in December 1996, a scheme the us provide grants of free electricity the us small farmers.

After the Congress lost the February 1997 Assembly elections in Punjab, Bhattal the usok over as the president of the Punjab Pardesh Congress Committee in May. In 2004, Bhattal accepted a position as deputy chief minister of Punjab. In March 2007, Bhattal became leader of the Congress Legislature Party in Punjab Vidhan Sabha.
