Rana Sodhi congratulates Indian hockey team for Olympics semifinals berth

Chandigarh, August 1: Punjab Sports Minister Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi, on Sunday, congratulated Indian hockey team for reaching semi-finals of the Tokyo Olympics, saying that we are inching closer to win a gold medal.

In his two tweets after the hockey team’s victory on Great Britain, Rana Sodhi said, “An outstanding display of skill on field by Hockey TeamIndia in Tokyo2020 Olympics. Indian men’s hockey team in semis, first time since 1980. Inching closer to Olympic Gold. 11 players from Punjab and we are proud of your achievement.”

In a second tweet, he wrote, “Indian men’s #hockey team in #Olympic top 4. We are proud of you #GoForGold.”

He said that all the three goals were scored by Punjab players in today’s match and we have high hopes from our players.

Rana Sodhi also wished the Indian hockey team for the match against Belgium scheduled for August 3. He said that the Indian hockey team, which had already beaten Belgium, would emerge victorious.

Pertinently, Rana Sodhi recently announced that each player of Punjab in the Indian hockey team participating in the Tokyo Olympics, would be individually awarded with Rs.2.25 crore for winning a team gold.
