To provide an adequate quantity of Urea to farmers, the Punjab Agriculture Minister Randeep Singh Nabha on Tuesday raised the demand of Punjab vociferously with Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers Mansukh Mandaviya and urged that it is the need of the hour as the state vehemently needed 5 Lakh Metric Tonne Urea till December 15.
During a virtual meeting with the Union Minister, Mr. Nabha said that the state needed an adequate quantity of urea during the first 25 days of sowing of wheat. He informed that the Union Government has allocated 14.50 LMT of Urea for Rabi 2021-22 for Punjab but we have received only 2.53 LMT of Urea against an allocation of 2.76 LMT during October-2021, He further divulged that the state has obtained only 2.26 LMT up to November 22, 2021, against an allocation of 3.33 LMT during November-2021. A total of 6.72 LMT of Urea is available up till now, said Randeep Singh Nabha adding that our farmers critically needed 5 LMT Urea to date.
The minister while assuring that there would be no shortage of urea in the State, said that against an allocation of 2.56 LMT of DAP, a quantity of 1.49 LMT has been received and a total of 3.00 LMT has been received during October & November 2021. Besides, Wheat has been sown on 35 lakh hectare area & sowing of the same has been almost completed in the state. There is very little demand for DAP in the state and the continuous arrival of DAP rakes is seen to fulfill the requirement.
While reviewing the stock of Urea and DAP, the Agriculture Minister assured us that there has been no shortage of urea in the State to date but we need adequate and uninterrupted supply well in time. He added that the state has received a total of 3.00 LMT DAP during October & November 2021. He informed that wheat has been cultivated on a 35 lakh hectare area & sowing of the same has been almost completed in the state. There is very little demand for DAP in the state from now onwards and continuous arrival of DAP rakes has been witnessed to fulfill the requirement.
