Chandigarh’s shame: Now, younger brother of accused uncle arrested for raping 10-year-old

Date:

Chandigarh, Sep 20: Two months after the rape and pregnancy of a 10-year-old girl came to light in Chandigarh and nine days after the DNA test indicated that the accused 45-year-old maternal uncle did not father her child, the police on Tuesday arrested.his younger brother.

Both the accused used to stay together in Sector 37, and according to sources took turns to rape the daughter of their cousin sister, who stayed in the servants’ quarters a few houses away. They were regular visitors to her house and allegedly committed the crime repeatedly, impregnating the minor.

The DNA report proved to be a game changer in the case.

The 41-year-old, who is a cook by profession, was arrested after recording the victim’s statement before the magistrate on Tuesday. Sources said she said even the “younger mama (maternal uncle)” used to rape her. Her mother and sister were also present in the court.

Sources said the cook has confessed to having violated the victim.

“It was in one of the counselling sessions that the victim told her mother about the second accused,” said UT senior superintendent of police Nilambari Vijay Jagdale. “He has been arrested and will be produced before court on Wednesday.” Jagdale said the child had been in shock and was too young to understand the situation.
