Confirming the development, Soni said, “We have asked the committee members, comprising eminent historians, to revise the syllabus for both the classes. We don’t want any academic loss to students in the ongoing classes of Plus One and Plus Two, so, online release of chapters will be carried out at the earliest.”

Besides eminent historian Kirpal Singh, other members of the committee are Prof Indu Banga, Prof JS Grewal, Balwant Singh Dhillon, Prof Prithipal Singh Kapoor, Inderjeet Singh and two representatives of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC).

Talking to the Tribune, after third meeting of the Oversight Committee, Soni said, “We have withdrawn the syllabus for both the classes in the book of history which was published for the first time by the board on the recommendations of an earlier appointed committee.”

The committee also submitted copy of proceedings of the earlier held two meetings, the Minister said, adding, “I will be able to make any comment only after I go through the details.”
